Dreamhack Bucharest 2012 – the venue

As a side note, I’ll be doing this in a multi-post fashion, so bare with me here. This first post will be about the venue, the atmosphere and the conditions met at the event itself. But let’s get on with it!

So, Dreamhack Bucharest 2012. It lasted for 2 wonderful days. People crowded up – actually way more than I expected – to watch other people play their favorite games. Those being Counter Strike 1.6, League of Legends and Starcraft 2.

The reason for me being there was obviously Starcraft 2, but I have to admit that I had some pre-pgl attempts with CS in my youth and I wasn’t exactly a stranger to LoL either. So I didn’t actually have any time to get bored while being there. Especially since there was no Starcraft 2 match on the main stage for the first day and personally I estimate there were at least 1000 attendees at the event. And yes, there were a lot more girls than I would have ever expected…  Continue reading

Brace yourselves, Dreamhack Bucharest 2012 posts are coming!

 Tomorrow. I promise!

It’s been a crazy week and I promised myself I’d write down my thoughts about the event, but I just couldn’t find the time to do so. To be honest, at the moment, just thinking about taking that picture and discussing with Apollo still makes me shake in emotion…

So I’ll be writing down my impressions on the event tomorrow, stay tuned :)

WCS SC2 Europe finals rudeness

As probably most of you know, the WCS SC2 Europe finals have concluded. I’ve really enjoyed the event as a whole and got in a few very nice surprises like Loweley and  Lucifron. Even my fellow romanian NightEnd qualified, kudos for that :)

The winner as you all probably expected and already know was Stephano. No questions asked, he’s an amazing player. But I really don’t get all that sarcasm and all that attitude.

In the finals interview he declared that:

  1. he had intentionally let Vortix win the first Bo3. Now, if you were watching the stream, you already know that was a bunch of boloni. He won fair and square in the end, but those rants and boasts were really unnecessary. He even got Rachel close to the boiling point…

Trademark or not, his rudeness and attitude will gain him nothing in the long run. And as a peer example, I could reference him directly to DonRaeGu from whom I never even heard of any malicious comments on or off the air.

  2. France won first place, as always. Well, as far as I can remember, WW1 and WW2 didn’t exactly turn out in the cheese factory’s favor…

I don’t know if the EG team will be able to get some PR or at least some common sense into him but it sounds like the sane thing to do. I’d really hate it for other players like Thorzain or Puma having to suffer from yet another MLG Annaheim type of outbreak from this guy…
